Indoor learning can include movement
Learning does not have to mean sitting at a table. Simple movement games can help children practice listening, vocabulary and observation while staying active.
Play a color hunt
Choose a color and ask your child to find several safe objects in the room that match it. Count the objects together and talk about what each one is used for.
Try a clue game
- Choose a familiar object without naming it.
- Give one simple clue about its color.
- Add a clue about its shape or purpose.
- Let your child guess the object.
- Switch roles and let the child give clues.
Make a movement pattern
Create a short pattern such as clap, clap, jump. Ask your child to copy it. When that becomes easy, add another action or let the child create a pattern for you.
Use a clear play area and choose movements that are safe for the available space.
A few simple indoor games can combine movement and learning without requiring special equipment.
